Lake, Light, Lost: A Photo Essay

Take a walk around a local lake at dusk.

Some evenings, the water is mirror-still. The wind breathes softly. The moon might spill a drop of moonlight.

There are reflective moments and moments to reflect.

The trees might look up. Or they might look down.

You might find Rorschach conversations with a slip of a moon.

Clouds dance. Colours ebb. Sometimes you see shapes.

Sometimes, you find frames.

And after soft kisses of darkness.

Good night with a love heart of green.

I’m thinking this could be more photo poem rather than photo essay. Does that exist as a thing? I’m sure it would, but it probably has a different, suitably poetic name.

All these photos were taken with my phone during the one lake walk in the Brisbane (Australia) autumn dusk. Only the last two photos are photoshopped (with the phone Photoshop Express app) to try and get more exposure into the darkness. Also, as it doesn’t hurt to say, photos and text are copyright Reena Dobson.
